Included the unknowing children

>Hypothetical reconstruction of what intended by Shimura Danzo when he said: "Included the unknowing children" talking of how to counteract the Uchiha clan's imminent revolt.
But Uchiha Fugaku told Itachi: "You really are gentle".
So I was wondering how could the gentle Itachi (considering Haku as an example of that) commit a crime like this? was he a true shinobi who killed his emotions, or that gentle person?
This consideration has inspired this drawing

Anyway, I think I'll get the answer by reading the manga ^^
